"Seto Canyon Tea" with a clay quarry motif

Seto City in Aichi Prefecture has been producing pottery for over a thousand years. As part of a series showcasing the city's scenery, we created an original package for "Seto Canyon Black Tea" (Darjeeling Earl Grey). We asked Eikokuya, a black tea specialty store with its headquarters in Kakuozan, Nagoya, and a factory in Seto, to create the product.

It's the perfect souvenir from Seto.

Contains 8 bags, each containing 3g.

This flavored tea is made from fragrant Darjeeling tea leaves, infused with the citrus aroma of bergamot. Earl Grey is usually made from bland Ceylon tea or Keemun tea, flavored with bergamot. Black tea crossed with Darjeeling is rare. Please enjoy the difference in aroma.

To make hot tea, heat water in a teacup, pour about 180ml of boiling water into the cup, and add one tea bag. Let steep for about 3 minutes, then remove the tea bag and it's ready. If you want iced tea, pour in about 120ml of boiling water, let steep for 3-5 minutes, and pour into a glass with ice. Milk tea is also recommended.

What is Seto Canyon?

For reference, this is from the private mine, Kasen Mine.

"Seto Canyon" is a huge open-cut mine located in Seto City, named after its magnificent Grand Canyon-like scenery and affectionately known locally. It is a pure white, mysterious mine where high-quality clays such as frog's eye and wood knots are mined, as well as silica sand, which is used to make glass . It is not open to the general public, so you cannot enter.

The cover illustration depicts an abstract view of clay, mountains, and rainwater collected in the mine from above. If you search for Owari Seto Station on the Internet using satellite images, you will see a completely white blank area surrounding it.

Eikokuya, a tea specialty store

This tea shop was founded in 1978 in Kakuozan, Nagoya. Through their unique connections, they directly connect with farms in producing areas, mainly in India and Sri Lanka, and import tea directly. Their prices are very reasonable, making them a tea you'll want to drink on a daily basis. They have a factory in Seto that handles the import, inventory, storage, processing, manufacturing, and shipping logistics of tea from around the world. At "Hitotsuchi," we visit the factory directly to purchase our tea.
